Most likely, you are using web browsers like Google Chrome or Safari. If you’ve gone a bit further, you may be using Firefox. Good improvement.

Not recommending Google Chrome
You can do your own research on this topic. But Google likes data, and they like to track stuff. So, I think it’s well known that Google Chrome also has a lot of built-in tracking and “surveillance” features. Use another browser.
Now, what is important to understand is that many modern and fancy websites, online platforms, and fancy web-apps need a Chrome-based browser to work and function properly.
The good thing is, there are plenty of other browsers that are built on the Chrome engine.
Not really recommending Safari
Safari for Mac has become a lot better. But just a few years ago, it didn’t have a good reputation as a proper web browser for web designers. It was just not displaying things as it should, and was slow.
Now, Safari is actually pretty sexy. But it’s still not a common web browser for web work. And I don‘t use it myself either.
Here are a few web browsers I recommend, in order of preference. Plus, a few cool alternative browsers you can consider.
Browsers for our work
Brave – Chrome-based browser with privacy (Recommended)
Firefox Developer Edition – Good and popular browser with better privacy and a lot of useful tools for web designers.
Alternative browsers to try
- Arc browser – A different look at browsers with a cool look and workflows
- Sidekick – A Chrome-based browser for productivity. I found that it’s basically built by the same team who built Chrome. So that makes me suspicious. But, they say they are privacy-focused the way it should be. And I just bought this premium browser for a lifetime deal at Appsumo.
- Min browser – A fast and minimalist privacy-focused browser I use for testing sites and working on mobile optimization.
Important notes
If you go for a browser like Brave, you can import all your stuff from Chrome (if you used that). You can also use the same extensions as you normally use on Chrome, as it’s built on the same engine.
I recommend the Brave browser and use it every day.
